tuesday will be the final check by teachers. ive done switches for photoresistors(LDR) to basic stamp, the actual grid(2meters by 2 meters) itself with laser(x6) matrix, testing testing , wiring wiring and of course whining. the max patch is starting to work and i had a lot of broblems with serial communication (RS-323), but now hopefully theyll work. what i need out from basic stamp is only 0 and 1's, so its quite simple to complete that.

found a nice fusebox thang yesterday. 3x4 matrix raw and unboxed, without wires or nothing. the installation is starting to take form and im having lots of elements on place. the thing is about wiring since it has to be done all at once.

heard yesterday that one of my school mates will take the space(whiteroom) for a one day photo shoot sessions on monday and kinda pisses me off.. well ill have then time to work and write my written final and to get over with it.
the written work is really hard to get on because my written work will be about the artistic work and because they are at different time each ill have a looooong days to get this done.

ohh jeah, the laser are working really well too! hooked up couple of em on monday and they were smooth!
ill concentrate on maxmsp patch mostly , but its also in good condision.

the "data-flow" is currently like this:
-4x pressuremats triggers->
-4x lasers->laser beam goes to->
-4 photoresistors each triggering an element on->
-MAX MSP JITTER (3D model, video or so, not decided yet) and action will trigger->
-relay driver via MIDI from MAX MSP to activate->
-3x4 light bulb matrix randomly
also there will be more laser(x5) and as well photoresistors(x5) but they will be static.

i also thought of having this cold pressured (hiilihappojää) on the floor and some fans or so to blow it in front of the lasers so you could see the laserbeams :)

max msp jitter patch has following elements:
-MIDI in/out
-open GL 3D
-ASCII
-fullscreen mode
-basic stamp communication

yesterday was the first day at white room that i did a lot of testing. the lasers were kinda kinky to do so i will do em when i have a tutor with me, Olli. but i got the system to trigger the laser done via these jumping pads/mats. so the idea is evolving. i also did testing with photoresistor triggering on basic stamp2 and max msp jitter. i didnt get it running as i wanted but following days it will come up. got a little frustrated about it but i think that its also because i dont have the right kinda USB to RS323 adapter and it seems to work a little different than the one that i had before, keyspan usa19. oh jeah, i also noticed that the one RS323 that im using now DONT WORK on OS X panther!!! so i did boot to tiger since im having both. after that i was afraid that now my max msp doesnt work.. but it did and i got the system running.
also schools G4 powermac is up and running. there was an issue that no one remebers the password, but i got in my head and now its also a pic help
i gathered all the stuff and made little thinking with placement of different things and i think it is working well. placed a large screen tv on front on the only "window" of the room, screen fronting out side and covering the class with "electric" blue plexi class and i will cut the logo to it. the idea seems nice.
i brought from my shack couple of 7" tv screens and un-done BNC adapters too. i will solder them today. also what is nice, a programmable led display, but i dont know yet how will i use it. the beemer picture was tested too and it was a little too small for the size of the room, but its ok. i keep on working on that so it will have more space.
i placed the rack of 16 camera survailence system, a VHS player/recorder( 2 scart sources, nice) and a my own built MIDI to RELAY box that has 4x 12w and 4x bigger 32w outputs to control E27 lightbulb matrixes.
im having a lot of material to use on the beemer screen and the looked pretty nice. one that i noticed is that the lighting when the beemer is on, is quite powerfull and i think thats not good for so small space....ill have a motor to it to cover so of the scenes on the show time.. and the motor is a mechano motor with building blok for the same product :)

how the heck do you get photos to this blogueeeee!?!?!?!
today i went to get some lasers and found nice 10 pieces of em. sweet!!quite cheap too. also the place to get the installation running will be the white room at trivium. i also tried to get hold of them fuse boxes but didnt manage to find suitable for my purposes so i will keep on hunting them. also i got 4 BNC cameras to make some feedback maadness. tomorrow i will pack the rest of the stuff and move em to trivium, as long as the girl whos been at the white studio will take her shit out. i think that the white room is going to be a lot of more nicer than the green screen studio since i will use a lot of wall space there.
my dear friend OLEGTRON also will join me to make this true and its even more cool that the man behind the knowledge will help me to build up this crazy installation that im about to do.
tomorrow after ive gathered the stuff to white room , i will check out the school G4 powermac and get some 2-3 more graphic cards so i can have a videowall built for the first time. also a visit to triopak is necessarary. i will buy 10 photoresistors that i will use in a combination with lasers.
there is a lot of work to do but i think im on the right track as long as my teachers will understand my point about doing this.
this thing is my long line dream and now i can make it happen!!

today after i have done some seaarch on google about wiring and stuff ill go and get couple of laserpointers for my work. i found them quite cheap from a flee market outside of town. and also since im having my father car ill drive to junkyard places that sell used stuff for cheap and get a two or more(depends on the price) these fuse boxes that are held in households to watch out over electricity to transform them to somelike 8x8 E27 lightbulb matrixes. whooaaa!!! talk to ya soon!

this blog consist a diary of my final work studies at TURKU AMK/digital arts. im a drop out failure that has gone too far with his studies and is now trying to get this things done and over with. so in this blog i will explain my thesis of my work and i will publish some photos too so that it can be seen that this thing will and did take lots of work to solve out. ill have now the 3 coming weeks to start and proceed with it and to write my final writen work. both of my work consist about final. the writen part will be sorta documentary about the the physical one and the physical work will follow the first given thesis about the work.
so what is this shit about?
©U- installation is my third(or so) approch to interaction desing as a installation. it will have a lot of different types of workflows which i will shortly explain here, now.
1. video installation part consist a 3D model on a projected wall that can be moved thru physical control for example moving in the space (room) in a x/y type of way.
2. it will consist a audio part that can be controlled the same way that the video ( X/Y)
3.i will implementate a analog as well as digital control to each one of the elements. they will have different functions and purposes over controlling the installation.
4.the eastehetics. the place it self will be a place to discover body movements and language over controlling physical electricity
5. the work it self is not present without the viewer

so lets see what will come up and i will write some new soon..
